The 1980’s needs no introduction or definition. It was that good of a decade to live in, and oddly enough the negatives were nowhere near as bad as they are today. The 80’s was a fun time to be alive, people were making more money than ever, and it was more common to live it up. The 80’s were truly a decade of excess and society’s definitions were rapidly changing.
The most common form of
this was when dealing with looks and beauty. What used to be more plain janes
were falling out of style, and sexuality was preferred. Women considered the hottest of the hot at the
time needed to have a sense of their beauty and they needed to flaunt it. However at the same time there was a split as
innocence was also growing popular. These “teen idols” like that are seen today
developed in both the guys and girls camps.
Just like the 1970’s posters of women were very popular and guys were
not considered right in the head if they did not have one.
So in that way I am
counting down the ladies who I consider to be the 10 Sexiest of the 80’s
decade. It could be any babe from the years 1980-1989, and their career needs
to be most connected with the 1980’s so there will be some women not on the
list who others would include. The whole
gimmick factor will include as well.
This decade is not easy
to choose from, so I had some hard choices, and I ended up with two ties. The first one starts the list and the other one ends it, I figured it would only be fair.
10. Debbie
Gibson/Tiffany
I start the list with
quite possibly the ultimate pop music feud of all times. In the 1990’s you had Brittney
Spears vs. Christina Agulara, and in the 2000’s you had Katy Perry vs. Lady
Gaga. But this is the Godmother of all these feuds as it was a way of life from
1987-1989 in most pop culture fields.
(Those hats were stupid and just laughably bad)
First you had Debbie
Gibson, who was from a rich family. She was the blonde haired virginal teen pop
singer, whose gimmick was that she wrote her own stuff and sang it. She was
beautiful but she never used it like she should have, instead focusing on her
uptight image and her musical skills. For her age that musical ability was
actually quite an accomplishment, which is something most singers today lack
very badly.
(Both of these two's 80's looks were very cheesy)
Then there was Tiffany,
who came from a poorer background and had natural singing talent. She is unusual
from most teen idols because she had red hair, but she managed it well when it
came to makeup and wardrobe. She was far more likeable to the guys than Debbie,
mainly because she seemed more common, plus she had a hidden edge. She in some ways is comparable to Brittany
Spears due to her style and persona, but more lighter than Brittany became. Her
gimmick was her mall tour, where teenage girls flipped out while watching her
sing and she gave autographs.
Comparing the two is
like Appels/Oranges. Both are very different than each other but they were in
at the same time. Debbie was the more
solid musician while Tiffany was more into looks but yet had a voice. Both had
hits in a short period and both's careers died out after a few years.
Both did Playboy in the
2000’s with mixed results. Debbie (of course out of her virgin gimmick) did a
very classy styled shoot, while Tiffany’s was very gimmicky of the 2000’s. Debbie won in this case, as it felt the tone fit her well, while Tiffany's was just blah
In the end both were
very beautiful and hard to pick, so I did them in one time.

Neither's music is my cup of tea, so that explains for now music clips, sorry! There's plenty of their vids around.
9.Kim Bassinger
This list had some hard
picks, and this was one of them. In the end I choose Kim over Heather Locklear
mainly because I find Kim more enjoyable, plus she’s been in more things I like
to watch. Kim’s best known for
being in the 1989 Batman with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson, and while she
was not the best lead actress in the series she was very beautiful in the role
and made it her own.
(Now that's how you do a Dark Batman right)
She also was in the Bond movie “Never Say Never Again”
with a Sean Connery playing Bond as an old fart (he was 53) trying to save the
world. The movie was so/so but it made her famous so it was not a loss. She
also did Playboy the same year, but it was very forgettable. That was a trend
with all the Bond girls from 1983-1989.
(The Whole Movie is filled with jokes about old age, to Bond, but this is the biggest one, it's unintentional)
She had a few other hit
movies over the next couple of decades but her biggest impact was from
1983-1989, so that’s why she made the list.
To be honest the only time I ever found her a mega babe was when she was
in Wayne’s World 2, and that was in 1993.

Looks wise she is
comparable to Jessica Simpson, but they are two different women. Kim had
smaller boobs but looks better as a blonde, she actually managed to bring the
popularity of Blondes up before Jessica brought it down. Both are southern and
had periods where they really big but acting wise Kim takes the cake.
She eventually married
Alec Baldwin but had an epic divorce for the ages, she now does some movies but
not as much as she used too. She still looks great when compared to some other
women of the period (Meg Ryan cough,cough.)
8.Christie Brinkley
The age of the
Supermodel began in earnest in 1980. There had been several women who got fame
for posing but it never reached the level that it had before. Two of these
women are on this list, and here is quite possibly the biggest of the 80’s
Supermodels Christie Brinkley.

She is probably the
best of the Sports Illustrated models as she dominated the Swimsuit issues for
years and boosted sales at a time where they needed it. She only did three
covers I believe but they were pretty memorable and she helped to save the
issue from going under. She also did the
first SI Calendar and sold millions of copies.She later started modeling for
Cover Girl and still does eyeshadow ads, as well as ads for the Total Gym with
Chuck Norris.
Her most famous acting
role was in the original “Vacation” movie with Chevy Chase, as the babe in the
red Ferrari who runs into him throughout the country. She basically flirted
with everyone the whole movie then near the end, had a moment with Chase,
ending up with him dumping her for his babe of a wife in Beverley D’Angelo (Who
barely missed this list btw.) However she had the last laugh in “Vegas Vacation”
as she again runs into Chase who she remembers but brushes her off.

She also had 4
marriages and her most notable husband was Billy Joel, who she married for 9
years. Her last one was pretty messy as it went all out in court, which sucked
for her.
She is in my opinion
the hottest Blonde supermodel and had one of the better smiles. Her only
downside was her personality, she comes off to me as kind of boring, she never
had any edge or mystery to her, she was the stereotypical blonde, which is not
bad because that’s great in its own way, but in a field so packed she somehow managed
to standout. And those reasons why I
mentioned earlier, plus she’s pretty damn rich, so that’s a plus.
7. Tanya Roberts
Most kids today know
her as Donna’s mom from “That 70’s Show” but she was quite accomplished in the
sexual roles of the 1980’s. Such roles as “The Beastmaster” and “Sheena” comes
to mind, as she wore very little and ran around the jungle almost naked but yet
was the memorable parts of those movies. She was also on “Charlie’s Angels” but
that show was almost done anyways, so most people don’t remember her that well
from there.
Her biggest role was in
the Bond movie “A View to A Kill” in which she acts the worse out of all the
Bond girls (Both her and Denise Richards are the two worst in most people’s opinions.)
Some actresses are just bad, but she managed to be laughably bad, and that’s
not easy. Her biggest gimmick was acting like an dot and running around
begging for Bond’s help. She claimed to be smart but yet made stupid decisions and
got herself caught too easy. Plus instead of asking for help like a normal
person “James help me!” she loved to go “JAAAAAAAMMMMMESSSS!” That might not sound bad in words, but if you
ever watch the movie it would get graining after a while. She managed to ruin a
otherwise decent Bond flick with one of the better Villains.
(It was very hard to find any decent non nude pics for her, seriously)
Forgive me here I
de-railed this part.
So in a nutshell she
was a bad actress but she is a gorgeous woman. She had a killer bob in her day, and a nice
face. Overall a total package, plus she did a ton of Playboy shoots. So much in
fact if you type her name in on Google some of her naked stuff’s on there
amoung her basic pics. Not very classy sure, but she knew her talents and used
them, some people are not that bright.
On a normal day she
would have made the Top 5, but I just find 6 women better than her. Her lack of
acting ability helped, plus that Bond movie’s one of my favorite ones besides
her, so I may have some Ill will, but she comes in at #7.
6. Jennifer Jason Leigh
In my opinion one of
the more underrated 80’s babes, Jennifer also managed to become a respectable
actress. Her most memorable role was “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” as she was
the female lead actress and had the more emotional role in the movie. She
played the classy and likeable girl at the high school who wanted to get laid.
Sure we all been there before haven’t we?
That’s a common thing in high school, and while the movie’s over 39
years old it’s still the best High School flick in my opinion because of it’s realism.
She eventually managed
to do it with the movie’s mega-douchebag and the results are rather
heartbreaking. I’m not giving it away but it’s a very hard part to watch but
yet it’s very realistic. Just a well done movie and I can’t quit giving it
praise as it was that good.
She did some more movies
in the 1980’s but that role was her career role until 1992 when made “Single
White Female” one of the better crazy woman movies. She was actually very freighting
but yet oddly enjoyable as the loon of the movie. AMC showed it during “FearFest”
and I appreciated it being included because it manages to be a decent horror
flick.
(She was Surprisingly hard to find pics for too, she did not model much)
She managed to switch
from playing innocent teens to crazy women but yet managed to stay a total babe
the whole time, that’s not very easy to do. In fact her Fast Times role was my
model for my future wife when I was a teen, and it’s not hard to see why, She’s
very traditionally beautiful but she had that edge in her, and I want that for
my wife.
A great actress (The best on the list) and
very a underrated beauty.
